Michael Dean Hoch-Hess

Services for Michael Dean Hess, 27, will be Friday, June 5, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona, Iowa. Family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lacona. Memorials may be made to Michael's family. In honor of Michael, family and friends are welcome to wear his favorite colors; blue and orange to the services. A Live video will be on our Facebook page beginning at 3:00 pm to view the service on Friday. Covid-19 restrictions do apply to the services. Michael Dean Hess was born June 22, 1992 to Kristy (Hoch) Hess in Des Moines, Iowa. He was adopted in 2000 by Denny Hess. Michael was a good big brother to his siblings, Madisen and Markus. He was raised on a farm near Fonda, Iowa. He attended OLGC Catholic school through the 6th grade. He then went to Newell-Fonda Public School. Michael was a good student and was active in FFA and 4-H. He was also an excellent driver, enjoyed riding 4 wheelers, and was an avid go kart racer. Michael was always good with computers and enjoyed playing games. He graduated from Newell-Fonda High School with the class of 2010 and went on to further his education at Iowa Central Community College where he studied computers and later obtained his CDL license. Michael enjoyed driving tractor in the fields working on the family farm. He was a hard worker and a dedicated son. Michael was a happy guy with an infectious laugh. He had a witty personality and a dry sense of humor with a caring heart. Michael passed away May 30, 2020 in Iowa City. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Denny and Kristy Hess; sister, Madisen Hess; brother, Markus Hess; grandmother, Marylee Hoch; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
