Graveside services for Mike A. Jordan will be Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norwood Cemetery. Open visitation will be Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will not be present. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the First United Methodist Church in Chariton. Family respectfully requests that anyone attending the service wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. Michael Alan Jordan, a resident of Pearland, Texas passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020. Mike was born in Des Moines, IA April 13, 1956 to W. D. (Bill) and Vera (Chandler) Jordan. He attended elementary school in Des Moines. After the death of his father, Mike, his mom and sister moved to San Jose, CA for six months before returning to Iowa. The family moved to Friendswood, Texas in 1967 after the marriage of his mother to Richard A. Black. He graduated from high school in 1975. When Mike was young, the family made annual trips to Leech Lake, MN. Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as spending quality time with his sister and family camping near Texas lakes and rivers. He also loved a good weekend fishing off the beach in Galveston and his grilled fish was some of the best. Mike worked for Baker-Hughes Aircraft, RBI Trucking for his parents, as well as working 25 years for UPS. Due to health concerns, Mike retired from UPS at age 54 and spent time in Bayview, TX helping his parents with their fruit orchard. After his step-father passed away, he was instrumental in assisting his mother with the orchard. Mike's loving family includes his mother, Vera Black; step-brother, Richard A. (Andrea) Black ; brother-in-law, John Storrie; nephew, Adam (Casey) Storrie and family; niece, Veronica (Alex)Stovall and two sons; as well as aunts, an uncle and many cousins. Preceding him in death was his father, W. D. Jordan, step-father, Richard A. Black; sister and best friend, Debra Storrie, and grandparents, Ray and Mamie Chandler.
