Born at the family farm east of Milo on February 6, 1928, Mary Belle was one of five children to Homer and Ann (Crooks) Milleson. She became an alumnus of the Milo School District in 1945 and went on to marry Paul Putz in a ceremony on August 24, 1946, surrounded by family and friends. Together, they continued the tradition of family farming begun by their grandparents and raised a thriving family of four girls and three boys on the family farm just outside of Milo. She was a lifelong resident of Warren County.
Mary Belle (mostly) enjoyed farming in the early years and gardening on the land near their home once they moved into town in Milo. She and Paul were members of the Milo Christian Union Church for many years. In her retirement years, she worked as a cook at the Indianola Good Samaritan.
Mary Belle loved spending time with family, making quilts, collecting, and cooking. Her homemade chicken and noodles were a hit at every family Christmas and was often a special birthday request from her grandchildren instead of a birthday cake.
Her family knows that her greatest love was for them and feels it still despite her absence. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the care team at Indianola Good Samaritan for their gentle care, as well as extended family and friends for their well wishes during her final days.
Mary Belle is survived by her sisters: Martha Graham, Nina Lawler, and Francis Dollison; children: Charles (Linda Mae) Putz, Shirley (Larry) Duncan, Linda Lea Moore, Gilbert (Paulette) Putz, Teresa Ann Owen, Kathleen (Jeff) Byers, and Jon Paul Putz; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Putz; brother, Howard Milleson, and son-in-law, Robert Moore.
