Mary La Mar Gross

Mary Agnes La Mar Gross, age 84, of Albia, Iowa died late Sunday night May 14, 2006 at the Monroe County Hospital Extended Care Unit in Albia. She was born September 26, 1921 in Franklin Township, Monroe County, Iowa to Charles J. and Kathryn (Coady) La Mar. She married William Gross on June 20, 1945 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Albia. He died February 16, 1987. She attended country school and Albia Community Schools. She was a homemaker. Mary and William resided in Davenport, Iowa retiring to Plantation Keys, Florida. Mary was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Albia Mary is survived by one brother, Charles La Mar, two sisters, Marie Granatino and Rosella Gilland all of Albia, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, three brothers, James, Bernard and Francis La Mar; three sisters, Catherine Calef, Sister Saint Catherine and Veronica Guelzow. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 18, 2006 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Albia with Rev. William Walter, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will open after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home. There will be a Rosary Service held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening with the family present until 8:00 P.M. that evening. Memorials have been established to Ragtime Industries.
