Mary B Dye

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary B. Dye, of Knoxville, will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at the church. Mary Barbara Ernst was born March 5, 1941 to Ed and Esther (Metz) Ernst at their home near Bauer, Iowa. Mary was raised alongside her six siblings and attended Bauer Catholic School through the eighth grade. She attended Melcher High School and graduated with the class of 1959. In 1960, Mary was united in marriage to Richard Dye. The couple was blessed with two children, Tonga and Ricky. The family moved around, living in Colorado, Washington, Nevada, Arkansas, and eventually returning to Iowa. Mary held various jobs throughout the years. She worked at the Pella Overall Factory, Massey Ferguson in Des Moines, for Rolscreen in Pella, selling vacuum cleaners for Electrolux, and she helped Richard with his trucking business as a bookkeeper and route planner. Mary enjoyed quilting, cooking, and horseback riding. She loved family get-togethers and playing cards. She especially loved to travel. Above all else, Mary loved spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant the world to her. Mary passed away December 14, 2019 at the age of 78. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Richard Dye; children, Tonga (Randy) Spaulding and Ricky (Vicki) Dye; eight grandchildren: Krystal, Shane, Taylor, Shawnee, Nicholas, Kayla, Brett, and Tori; eight great grandchildren: Jaden, Branden, Nola, Ryan, Kapri, Wren, Kora, and Braxl; and siblings: Joan Stoneking, George (Trudy) Ernst, Rita (Jerry) Krueger, Jane Howe, Glen (Julia) Ernst, and Joe (Corina) Ernst. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Esther Ernst, and granddaughter, Kandi. Visitation
