Martha F. Hunter, 97, of Chariton, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Chariton Cemetery following the service.
Memorials may be made in care of the Grace Baptist Church where Martha had been a faithful member for many years.
Martha Frances Hunter was born July 14, 1925, to Homer and Maude (Daugherty) Stoneking in Lucas County, Iowa.
On September 12, 1939, Martha was united in marriage to William “Bill” Hunter Jr. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Sharon Kaye. Martha enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as a Bible School teacher as well as a Sunday School teacher for forty years. Although she wasn’t big on socializing, Martha was always involved in church activities.
Martha was blessed with two granddaughters, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her world.
Martha went to be with the Lord December 3, 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hunter (Bud Welch); granddaughter, Karen Allen; 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly Niswender; along with nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Maude Stoneking; husband, William “Bill” Hunter Jr.; granddaughter, Shari Allen; and great grandson, Trevor Fetters.
