Marjorie L. DeBok

Marjorie DeBok, 84, of Chariton passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Chariton Specialty Care. Services will be Friday, November 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Care Initiatives Hospice. Marjorie was born January 9, 1934 at home in Lucas County, Iowa to Ardys and Winona Williams Culbertson. She grew up in the Derby area and graduated from Derby High School in 1952. She worked for Hy-Vee in the offices where she met and married Roger DeBok. She also worked at the front desk at the Lucas County Hospital for several years. Marjorie owned and operated Marge's Queen Size Fashions on the Chariton square until she retired. Later in life, Marjorie and Roger had a daycare in their home, where they loved and cared for several little ones. She also volunteered at the hospital and for hospice. Marjorie was a very giving and caring person. She and Roger opened their home to several foster children over the years. She enjoyed all kinds of dancing, blue grass music, camping, and she loved to create art, especially paintings. Marjorie passed away November 25, 2018. She is survived by daughters: Cindy Cox of Lucas, Veronica (Jim) McMahon of Dallas, TX, Yvonne (Dale) Childers of Advance, IN, and Karla DeBok of Eddyville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchild; siblings: Norma Porter and Geraldine (Gene) Snodgrass. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Ardys and Winona Culbertson; husband, Roger DeBok in 2010; and siblings: Lois and Guy Stalter, Violet and Gerald Halferty, Harold and Mary Culbertson, Jerry Porter, and Glen Culbertson.
