The oldest of 7 siblings, she was raised in Lacona and graduated from Lacona High School in 1957. During school she had met Harlan Williams and on November 18, 1957 the high school sweethearts were married. Marion and Harlan were sweethearts for nearly 63 years, they were blessed with four children: Bruce, Troy, Carrie and Larrie. After high school, and when she was first married, Marion worked at Look Magazine in Des Moines. She then worked for Kellogg's Café in Lacona, and she enjoyed selling Avon door to door in Warren County. Marion worked for several years as a cook at the Lacona Elementary School. She then started working part time for the Lacona Post Office. Marion became a full time Post Master working in many towns surrounding Lacona. When she retired, she had worked for the Postal Service for 35 years. Marion was very active in the community, always willing to help with the Lacona Celebration, the school, and just about anything that was needed. She loved to go camping and to car shows, and her favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. Her greatest love and enjoyment of life came from her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was proud of her family and always put others needs before her own. And of course, there are many great family memories made centered around her welcoming nature and her amazing food. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls, glazed donuts, homemade tacos, and many other goodies. These were made for the school, grand openings, the Lacona Celebration, and many other events. She welcomed everyone to her home and there was always enough and room for any friends that might stop by. Marion passed away at home on July 4, 2020 at the age of 81 years. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
