Marilyn Louise Phillips was born on August 31, 1931 to Leroy “Gilbert” and Cora Oliver Phillips in Knoxville as an only child. Marilyn passed away the age of 90 at Accura Health of Knoxville on January 4, 2022.
Marilyn grew up in Knoxville and attended school there until 8th grade when she chose to start working to help her family. She was known to do it all from housekeeping, waitressing, or taking care of her family and church community. She was always a very strong and independent woman. Marilyn was blessed with one daughter, Cherie (Dave Jones) Phillips. They had a very special bond spending time together daily. Marilyn loved her family and the gatherings they had for holidays. She also loved attending several churches, BINGO, Harvey jams, reading, pot locks, and spoiling her loved ones. Marilyn also loved to attend Knoxville sporting events and races, whether it be in person or listening on the radio.
Those left to honor Marilyn are her daughter, Cherie (Dave Jones) Phillips; granddaughters, Ashley (Ashley Conrad) AbraHamson and Alexis (Caleb) Bennett; and great grandchildren: Ainsley, Rhettley, and Kazley.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials in Marilyn’s memory can be made to her daughter, Cherie, for funeral expenses. There will be a luncheon at the VFW of Knoxville on January 14, 2022, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, with family attending.
