Marie Kathryn Muilenburg was born on April 20, 1931 to Ello and Eva (Hall) Rahn in Fenton, Iowa. She later moved to Lucas where she graduated with a class of four from Lucas High School in 1948. She was a waitress for a period of time, and then worked as a telephone operator. She then worked for HyVee as an Executive Assistant for 28 years, retiring in 1989. She finished her working career at the VA in Des Moines, where she worked for 34 years as a scanning technician up until her passing. Through the years she was employed by the VA, she received many service awards. It was a two-hour daily commute to Des Moines and back, which showed her dedication. She loved her job dearly. It gave her much fulfillment, and she was respected and loved by many coworkers. Marie moved from Chariton to Knoxville in 1996. She was a very private, strong-willed, incredibly independent person, but always had a successful career and many friends. She enjoyed watching golf on TV and even began playing it 20 years ago. She also enjoyed watching high school girls' six on six basketball and Days of Our Lives. She loved taking trips to New Orleans to visit her sister and also liked going dancing at Woodburn. Her grandchildren were a great joy to her, and she loved them dearly. She had a deep faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Knoxville. Marie is survived by her sons: Barry (Victoria) Muilenburg and Todd Muilenburg; grandchildren: Johnathan, Nicholas, and Madison; great grandchildren: Mylee and Maizie; along with many relatives and friends. Preceding her in death was her son, Tracy Muilenburg; parents: Ello and Eva Rahn; and sister: Anna May Shane-Chessor. Cemetery Details Chariton Cemetery HWY 14 and HWY 34
