Funeral services for Lyle Nickelson, 78, of Chariton will be Friday November 2, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Friends may call after 10 AM on Thursday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM and a Masonic Service to be held at 6:30 PM. Memorials are to the ZA-GA-ZIG Transportation Fund or to Scholarship for Fine Art Students. Condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com . Lyle was born near Oakley, Iowa on November 27, 1928 to Ray & Nina Conner Nickelson. He passed away October 30, 2007 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton. He went to Frye School and then to Chariton High School and graduated in 1947. He was drafted into the Army in 1950 and served in Korea until 1952. Lyle married Donna Schilling at the UB Church in Chariton on April 6, 1952. Lyle worked for Johnson Machine Works in Chariton in the drafting department. He belonged to the Christian Church in Chariton, Masonic Lodge, ZA-ZI-ZIG Shrine, Klassy Chassis, and was an original member of the Lucas County Sherriff's Posse. He enjoyed traveling all over the world and the U.S. with Donna, camping, playing cards, and after retirement woodworking and making birdhouses. He golfed with Donna and Donna went camping with him, he liked to roller skate and ice skate, snowmobile, bowl, and he enjoyed cars very much. Preceding Lyle in death are his parents; and his brother Keith. Lyle is survived by his wife Donna; a sister Ruth (Jerry) Mosbey of Albia; sister-in-law Gail Nickelson of Chariton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
