Lyle Howard "Butch" Koons

Lyle Howard “Butch” Koons, age 74, of Harvey, Iowa (formerly of Knoxville), passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A remembrance for Butch will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with family present to greet friends and relatives. A private family burial will take place on a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Lyle was born on October 14, 1947, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Howard and Hildreth (Willey) Koons. At a young age, Lyle’s father died, and his family moved around a lot during his school years. Following school, Butch worked various jobs, including farming, concrete construction, railroad work, and the Farmers Coop.
Butch was united in marriage to Paula Jean Bailey on December 3, 1976. They were blessed with one son, Jason. Butch and Paula enjoyed almost 45 years of marriage before his passing.
Butch loved to work in his yard and being outside around the house. He also enjoyed working on classic cars when he was younger. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Paula Koons of Harvey; son, Jason Koons of Melcher; sister, Corine Bennet (Randy) of rural Knoxville; two grandchildren, Austin, and Alexus Koons; and several nieces and nephews.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Hildreth Koons; and ten siblings, Warren Koons, Marion Koons, Norman Koons, Leland Koons, Connie Heaton, Phyllis Vroegh, Carley DeMoss, Karen Heaton, Gwen Bly, and Robert “Bobby” Koons.
