Lodus Delno Jones Jr.

September 27, 1958 — March 8, 2022

Lodus Delno Jones, Jr. was born on Sept 27, 1958, in Knoxville, Iowa. He grew up in Pershing and attended school in Attica and Bussey. He met Edith Lorraine Martin in 1973 while working in a hayfield by Lovilla, and they dated throughout high school. They were married in Milan, Missouri in 1976. They resided in Harvey for a short while, and later moved to Pershing, where they raised their children.

Lodie lived a very colorful life, had a way with the ladies, and didn't know a stranger. He was said to have had 9 lives and the gift of gab. He enjoyed fried morel mushrooms, dutchmess, and his mom's tuna noodle casserole. He enjoyed collecting coins, watches, and turquoise jewelry.

Lodie never liked to be in one place for too long. He loved camping and traveling to North Carolina with his family when he was younger, and he was always down to take a road trip to wherever. He loved music, preferably The Eagles, Guns and Roses, and Meatloaf. In his later years, he enjoyed driving around the lake and relaxing with his dogs, Mimi, Capone, and Colby.

Lodie passed away at his home in Pershing on March 8, 2022, with his family at his side, exactly the way he wanted. He was the absolute best father, grandfather, son, uncle, and brother that anyone could ever ask for, and he will be deeply and sorely missed.

Lodie is survived by his parents, Ruth and Lodus Jones, Sr. of Pershing, his sisters Angie Conrad of Bussey, Teresa Conrad of Pershing, and Kim Lyons of Des Moines. Son Gregory Jones of Knoxville, daughter Shannon De Haan of Pella, and daughter Rebecca Jones of Knoxville.

Lodie's grandchildren include Tyler Lafollette of Knoxville, Nicolas Darland of Ankeny, Jesse and Joey Hegwood of Knoxville, and Shelby Darland of St. Louis, Missouri. Lanie, Hannah, and Mathew Jones of Knoxville, and Devin, Regan, and Destiny Arkema of Pella. Great grandchildren include Ryker, Addelyn, and Melody Lafollette of Knoxville, with 2 great grandchildren on the way.

Lodie's nieces and nephews include Mike Jones of Ankeny, Stephanie Jones of Des Moines, and Dena Moen of Marysville. Amanda Lewis of Carlise, Marty Conrad of Newton, and Dustin and Rusty Conrad of Bussey.

Lodie is also survived by his uncle Tom Jones of Knoxville, uncle Robert Evans of Knoxville, aunt Phyllis Kennedy of Platteville, Colorado, and his wife Denise Holmes of Knoxville. Stepchildren include Tyler, Ryan, Josh, and Jill Mitchell, all of Knoxville.

Lodie's celebration of life will be held April 30, 2022, at 1pm at the Pershing youth center, and all are invited. If desired, memorials can be made to the Pershing youth center at the time of the celebration.
