Linda Kay Weeks

August 2, 1941 — April 21, 2024

Milo

Linda Kay (Clevenger) Weeks, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Milo, Iowa, on April 21, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Piersbacher Funeral Home in Milo. A visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Linda will be interred following services at Belmont Cemetery, two miles east and one mile north of Milo.

Linda was born at home in Des Moines, Iowa on August 2, 1941, to Clyde and Orpha (Nash) Clevenger. She was delivered by her father, Clyde. Linda spent a great deal of time in her younger years with her great-aunt, Jose Chase and great-uncle, Walter Chase. Her father found out he had TB when enlisting in the service during WWII and was hospitalized. Her mother had to work, and Jose volunteered to care for Linda. Linda referred to Jose as grandma.

While spending her summers with her grandma, she met Sonny (Gerald L. Weeks Jr.) who lived across the section. Around nine years old, they became incredibly good friends and in their later teens decided they would like to get married. Clyde and Orpha made a rule that Linda had to complete high school first. Sonny enlisted in the US Navy and was away for two years except for the thirty days leave a year which he would return to spend with her. Linda went to two years of summer school to graduate early. On August 6, 1958, they were married, and the rest was history. The marriage lasted 65 years and 259 days. Unfortunately, those that were at the wedding saying that they are too young to get married were not able to see how long they would last. Linda had her first child, Gerald L. Weeks III in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her second child, Dennis Glenn Weeks, was born in Rhode Island, and baby number three, Julie Beth Weeks in Des Moines, Iowa. As Sonny was deployed to Antarctica her father, Clyde, came to the rescue for the final birth.

Linda had a bucket list to visit every state and she completed that in 2014, with Alaska being the last. Linda spent 19 years as a Navy wife and lived on four different continents. She adapted well and always looked forward to a new place to go. Linda was an avid fisher lady and was at her happiest when trolling in the boat and traveling. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens.

Linda is survived by her husband, Sonny; daughter, Julie Weeks; son, Jerry (Teri) Weeks; daughter in law, Janet Weeks; sister, Lyla Bonjour; grandchildren: Megan (Tony) Neff, Lindsey (Jared) Molloy, Maison Weeks, Elizabeth Martir, and Brandon Weeks; and her great grandchildren: Trent Neff, James Neff, Malcom Molloy, Logan Martir, Evelyn Martir, Emma Martir and Lucas Martir.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Glenn Weeks; grandparents, Jose and Walter Chase, Eula and Willard Nash, and Herb and Greta Clevenger; cousin, Dan Nash; uncle, Doyle Nash; and an aunt, Jeanne Nash.

Memorials may be directed to the Milo American Legion in Linda’s name.
