Linda Sue Rodgers, age 75, of Knoxville, Iowa, (formerly of Pleasantville), passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Pella Comfort House.
Linda’s wishes were to be cremated. A gathering with her family present will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Headquarters Styling Salon, 309 S. 3rd St. in Knoxville from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Burial will take place on a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Linda was born on August 17, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Beryl and Gladys Louise (Rouwenhorst) Kane. She was raised in rural Pleasantville and graduated from Pleasantville High School, Class of 1964. Following high school, Linda attended Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. Linda was united in marriage to Ronald Dale Rodgers on February 20, 1965. Linda and Ron were blessed with two children, Jason, and Leticia.
Linda began working out of her home as a beautician while raising her family. She then worked for other salons in the area before opening her own salon Headquarters Styling Salon in 1984.
When Linda was younger, she was very involved in several sports, especially basketball. She had a great fondness for 4-H and raising dairy cattle with her parents Beryl and Louise. Linda loved tending to her flowers and succulents and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Linda’s family was her main enjoyment, Ron, her children, and grandchildren. She loved baking and cooking with her grandchildren, Nic, Leah and Jace. She recently started raising mini goats and horses, which brought hours of enjoyment to her children and grandchildren. She loved her dog, Gidget. Linda was very creative. She arranged flowers, created greeting cards, and jewelry. She also made quilts and crocheted afghans. Linda had numerous interests and she excelled at everything she tried. She took one vacation a year, which was camping at the Iowa State Fair.
Linda was an avid scrapbooker and she made a scrapbook for each of her grandchildren every year. She was also a talented seamstress. Linda designed all of her own clothes when she met her husband, Ron. She created her own wedding dress in addition to many clothes for her children.
Those left to cherish Linda’s memory include her husband, Ron Rodgers of Knoxville; children, Jason (Nicole) Rodgers of Knoxville, and Leticia “Tisha” (Jeremy) Hansen of Waukee; grandchildren, Nicholas Rodgers, Leah Hansen, and Jace Hansen; and one sister, Judy (Jerry) Richards of Pleasantville.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Beryl and Gladys Louise Kane.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Linda’s memory to Pella Comfort House.
