Linda Lea (Shore) Greubel, 76, passed away peacefully April 7, 2018 at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton. Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials will be designated to a memorial bench at the Calvary Cemetery or to the Pin Oak Marsh. Linda was born December 5, 1941 in Chariton, Iowa to the late Leland and Matha (Schinderling) Shore. She grew up with her older brother, Marvin, on a farm south of Chariton. Linda attended Chariton High School, graduating in 1960. During her senior year, Linda met Darrell Greubel through her friendship with his sisters. Darrell and Linda dated through Linda's graduations from CHS and beauty school, and were married on August 26, 1961 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton. Darrell and Linda welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Jeri, the following year. They added one more girl, Karen, and two boys, Marty and Joe, over the following six years. They waited ten more years to achieve perfection with their last two, Shelli and Erin. (Well, Erin anyway.) Linda worked as a beautician for 30 years, owning her own salon until she retired. In retirement, Darrell and Linda opened an antique and gift store, Dar-Lin's, on the Chariton square. Linda enjoyed sewing and quilting, always making gifts for her children and grandchildren. Linda and Darrell enjoyed traveling to Bella Vista, Arkansas, bringing along friends and family on their trips. Family was the most important thing in Linda's life. She took great enjoyment in her 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was always willing to drop everything to babysit or attend grandkids' activities. Linda mailed cards to the grandkids for every single holiday, which they all loved. In December of 2017, Linda's world was turned upside down with the passing of Darrell. She was never able to fully recover from the toll it took on her health. They now rest in eternal peace together. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her brother, Marvin; her parents, Leland and Matha; daughter-in-law, Cindy; and brothers-in-law, Bob Greubel and Jim Ryun. Linda is survived by her six children, Jeri (Kevin) Reeve, Marty (Peggy) Greubel, Karen (Derwin) Dorpinghaus, Joe (Robin) Greubel, Shelli (Jason) Neus, and Erin (Mark) Hoxmeier; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Rosie Shore, Colene (Dick) Greubel Babcock, Darlene (Emory) Riseley, and Ruth Ryun; brother-in-law, Ray (Judy) Greubel; and many nieces and nephews.
