Linda Ann “Lin” Donnelly, age 80, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on March 13, 2022, at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.
Lin was born on August 17, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Loretta (Mews) Koester. She grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin until her family moved to Des Moines her senior year. Lin graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. Following high school, Lin attended Lutheran Nursing School and obtained her registered nursing degree. Lin interned at the V.A. in Knoxville and met Steven Donnelly. They were united in marriage on May 11, 1963, and were blessed with two daughters, Kelli and Mary.
Lin worked at the V.A. as a nurse for 30 years. Following retirement, Lin and Steve enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona for 24 years. Lin was an accomplished shuffleboard player. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Lin’s wishes were to be cremated. There are no plans for services at this time.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Steve Donnelly; daughters, Kelli Dunkin (Steve Eck) of Knoxville, and Mary Donnelly of Knoxville; brother, James E. Koester of Georgia; and grandchildren, Ty and Tanner Dunkin (Erica Fee) , and Samuel Donnelly Williams.
Lin is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Loretta Kester; and granddaughter, Kory Dunkin.
Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Lin’s family.
