Leuty Schreiner, age 80, of Harvey, Iowa, died Friday, November 26, 2021, at his home in Harvey.
Leuty’s wishes were to be cremated with no services planned. A memorial has been established in Leuty’s memory and may be given to the family. Leuty was born on September 5, 1941, in Pella, Iowa, the son of Ed and Grace Schreiner.
Leuty was raised in Pella and educated in the Pella Schools and Central College. Leuty worked for the City of Pella and later became a talented and sought-after painter. He was also an excellent musician and played in the bands as lead guitarist, bass guitarist, and vocalist. The bands traveled the Midwest with their blend of country and rock music. Leuty had a life-long love of learning and often amazed his family with his broad knowledge of many subjects. He was also very creative in arts and crafts, and for many years Leuty kept a garden that was the envy of his neighbors.
Those left to cherish Leuty’s memory include his loving wife of 46 years Kathy (Breen) Schreiner; two daughters, Toni (Darrell) Rust and Tami (Greg) Staten; stepson Chad (Jen) Van Waardhuizen; many grandchildren, Payten (Josh) Edmundson, Parker Van Waardhuizen, Rikki and Randi of Minnesota; and his great grandchildren Paisly and Elliot Edmundson and three great grandchildren of Minnesota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special friends Pat and Denise Rawls.
Leuty is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Grace Schreiner; his brother Warren Schreiner; and his two sisters, Jean Gasper and Patsy (Dean) Sadler.
