Lester Eugene Grunig, age 49, of Ottumwa, Iowa died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at his residence under hospice care. Lester was born August 12, 1957 in Springfield, MN to Eugene Gay and Virginia (Brayton) Grunig. He graduated from High School in Lamberton, MN. He worked at Cargill in Eddyville as a Maintenance Coordinator. He married Debbie Shehan on September 19, 2006 in Marion County. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching his boys wrestle and his girls play softball. Lester is survived by his wife, Debbie of Ottumwa, IA; mother, Virginia ?Betty? and Step-father Roger Lemcke of Walnut Grove, MN; children, Rickie Grunig of Montezuma, IA, Brandie Grunig of Eddyville, IA, Codie Grunig of Eddyville, IA, and Kirbie Grunig of Ottumwa, IA; step-children, Sean Lampier of Blakesburg, IA, Leanne Shehan of Ottumwa, IA, and Molly Patterson of Pella, IA. One brother Donald Grunig of Oskaloosa, IA, and two sisters, Darlene Grunig and Charlet Grunig, both of Ocheyedan, IA also survives Lester. His father Eugene precedes him in death. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia with Rev. Kevin Leveck and Marvin Knoot officiating. Burial will follow in Blakesburg Cemetery in Blakesburg, IA. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia opening to the public and 12:00 P.M. and the family will be present from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday evening. Memorials may go to Monroe County Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
