Les Deemer

July 20, 1959 — November 28, 2022

Chariton

A celebration of life for Les Deemer, 63, of Chariton, will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at the CB&Q Freight House in Chariton from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in care of his wife, Sue Deemer.

Les Deemer was born in Newton, Iowa to Lester and Wilma Adair Deemer. He grew up in State Center with his four siblings until moving to Chariton about the time he was a freshman in high school. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1979. He worked with his dad building fence and farming for several years, then went to Chariton Feed & Grain before going on his own trucking. He hauled feed, grain, and livestock for over 35 years. Many will remember his handle, “Red Rocket”.

Les was married to the love of his life, Sue McCarty, on November 30, 1985. He was a great Dad and never missed an event his girls were involved with. His life was all about the kids, not only his girls, but he truly shined at being a Grandpa and Great Grandpa. They call him “Pops” or “Papa”. He loved playing spoons and cards with the grands, but he cheated at Old Maid.

Everyone who knew Les, knew he had a big, kind heart and would do anything for those needing a hand. He was a simple guy, with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Les will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Les is survived by his wife, Sue Deemer; daughters: Misty Bardwell, Tammy (Chad) Krutsinger, and Steffany (Derek) Sefcik; grandchildren: Bayley (Austin) Baird, Sheena (Carter) Miller, Sydney Morris, Mackenzie (Dalton) Stites, Maci Krutsinger, Max Krutsinger, Mckenzie Sefcik, Addison Seebach, and Letty Sefcik; and great grandchildren: Lexe, Henry, Axel, Celeste, and one more on the way. Along with siblings: Ivan (Jan) Deemer, Brenda Rumley, and Rodney Deemer; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Les was preceded in death by his sons, Todd Bardwell and Cody Deemer; granddaughter, Mali Krutsinger; parents, Lester and Wilma Deemer; and his brother, Doyle Deemer.
