Services for Leo Seuferer, 86, will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona, Iowa. Family will receive friends an hour prior from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Newbern Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Lacona Community Center following interment.
Memorials may be made to the Lacona American Legion.

Leo Edward Seuferer was born in Lacona, Iowa on November 28, 1935, to Edward and Irene (Klein) Seuferer. He grew up in Lacona where he graduated from Lacona High School in 1954. After high school, Leo served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed in France and Germany.
Leo married E. Marie Clark on August 4, 1957. To this union, they were blessed with three sons: Jeff, Ed, and David. The couple lived on a farm south of Lacona for most of their married life, raising cattle and hogs. In later years, they also had foxes and rat terriers.
Leo was always a hard worker. He worked in the lumber business at Paxton, Sutherlands, and Pella Corp. For many years, he was a self-employed carpenter. He had a main crew of Jim Reeves and their boys. He was also one of the First Custom Big Balers with Dwayne Manser, owned a bar/café, ran a Flea Market, and sold Live Bait and Taxidermy, just to name a few. When he wasn’t working, he loved to be outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Leo will be dearly missed by his wife, Marie Seuferer; sons: Jeff (Pam) Seuferer and David (Lisa) Seuferer; daughter-in-law, Kristi Seuferer; 6 grandkids: Tyler (Kayla) Seuferer, Haley (Cody) Mikesell, Alarick Seuferer, Amelia Seuferer, Carlie Seuferer, and Clark Seuferer; 1 great grandson, Easton Seuferer and a great granddaughter on the way, Raygan Mikesell; siblings: Ann (William) Daugherty, Patricia (Melvin) Miller, Howard (Marge) Seuferer, and Winifred (Jerry) Nicholson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Meghan Seuferer; son, Ed Seuferer; and siblings: Mary Catherine Seuferer, Ethelreda Kalwhisky, Ruth Seuferer, James Seuferer, and Frank Seuferer.
