Larry Dean Gillaspy Jr.

A Celebration of Life service for Larry Gillaspy, Jr. will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m., at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa. Memorials may be made to his wife, Tammy.

Larry Dean Gillaspy Jr. was born on May 19, 1962, in Chariton, Iowa to Larry Gillaspy and Judy (Krutsinger) Gillaspy. He left this life on February 4, 2022, in Des Moines, Iowa at Mercy Hospital.

JR graduated from Chariton High School in 1980. He went to Auctioneering School between his Junior and Senior years of high school. This was something he always wanted to do. He grew to be an accomplished auctioneer, working all over the United States.

JR met and married the love of his life, Tammy Wetzel. They had 25 wonderful years together. JR and Tammy worked the auctions together and lived out of state. They moved back to Iowa to be around family. He had an outgoing personality and never met at stranger.

JR will forever be loved and missed by his wife, Tammy; mother, Judy (LaVern) Larrington; father, Larry (Linda) Gillaspy; sister, Lori (Clayel) Phillips; niece, Ashley Phillips (Lucas & Anaiya); nephew, Ben (Johanna, Leti & Willa) Phillips; grandchildren: Casey, Dominic, Maddox, Greighson, Harley, and Hunter; great granddaughter, Skylar; step siblings: Jim Larrington, Rick (Melissa) White, Kim (Chad) Darrah, Jeannette (Joe) Cooley; many people that called him Pops and Dad; along with many cousins and friends. He was loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill; grandparents, Margaret & Clell Krutsinger and Bea & Frank Gillaspy; 5 uncles; 2 aunts; and 2 cousins.
