Services for Kenneth E. Miller, 94, of Chariton will be Friday, January 24, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Fry Hill Cemetery in Lucas at a later date. Kenneth Edward Miller went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with his wife, Zelma Ellen Gray Miller on January 18, 2020. To borrow a passage from Scripture: these are the days of the years of Ken "Red/Catfish" Miller. He breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people. Ken was born in Lucas, Iowa on May 22, 1925 to Raymond Alvin and Louise Evans Miller. Ken served in the US Navy during World War 2, and US Army during Korea. He received a written accommodation during WW2 and later in life he received a disability for fighting a fire on a British ship that damaged his lungs. He held many jobs before settling in at the Hy-Vee warehouse where he drove truck for most of his career. He was married to Zelma Ellen Gray on Sept. 3,1947 in Albany, Indiana, Zelma went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2014. To this union 2 children were born: Carol Ann Adcock of Chariton, and Raymond Edward Miller (Carol) of Keokuk Iowa; and a son David by a previous marriage; 9 grandchildren; 16 great; and 4 great great grandchildren. Ken and Zelma enjoyed traveling and camping and spent over 20 winters in the southwest, mainly Las Vegas, NV area. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Alvin and Louise Jane Evans Miller, sister Gwen Showers of Centerville, Iowa, brother Alvin Miller, of Bullhead City, Az, and a step brother Charles Miller in Ottumwa, Iowa.
