Kathy Stephenson Ewing

Kathy Stephenson Ewing, of Sigourney, Iowa, (formerly of Knoxville) passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Williams-Pierschbacher Funeral Home, 702 E. Robinson, Knoxville, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Following services, burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Memorials may be made to her family and will be designated at a later date.

Kathryn Anne was born on June 17, 1946, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Ruby (Jones) Stephenson. She attended Knoxville High School with the Class of 1964. Kathy was united in marriage to Jerry DeJoode and they were blessed with four children.

Kathy moved to Sigourney in 1992 and made her home there until her passing. Kathy was employed at Amana Refrigeration on the assembly line and worked there for 34 years until retiring. She enjoyed having her family over for birthdays and holidays. She was a great cook and two of the family favorites were meatloaf and potato salad. Kathy also enjoyed her flower garden and house plants. She enjoyed her weekend visits spending time with her son Joel and his family.  Above all else Kathy loved her family and spending time with them.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Melissa (Don) Klett and Joel (Tasi) DeJoode; four grandchildren: Josh DeJoode, Justin DeJoode, Curtis (Jenna) Klett, and Johnathon Klett; step-brother, Ed Poole; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruby Stephenson, and step-mother, Alfretta (Poole) Stephenson; brother, Richard Stephenson; son, Mark DeJoode, and infant daughter, Lisa LeeAnne DeJoode.
