Karen was born in Knoxville in 1945 to Edwin and Geraldine Geery, the 4th of 10 children. She passed away Friday, October 29th, 2021 at UIHC in Iowa City. She was raised in Harvey, IA, lived several years in Cedar Rapids, Knoxville, and most recently, Marion.
Karen & Roger were married for over 40 years, were members of the Veterans Public Safety Unit in Cedar Rapids, worked very hard together doing maintenance at the Knoxville Raceway/Campgrounds and as Knoxville School bus drivers. She lived a simple, but hard-working life.
She was Mom to Angela, Jennifer, Vickie, and Darrick; a very proud & loving Oma to Clay, Kit, Reneé, Felicia, Phillip (Melissa), & Michelle (Jake); and great-grandchildren Norah, Hunter, Silas, Selena, Dominick, Sawyer, Bear, & Brinlee.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Jennifer (Rob) Taylor of Marion and Vickie Wardenburg of San Antonio; daughter-in-law Chrise Layng; sisters Joyce Vander Werff, Lisa Geery-Dale, and Susanna Geery; sister-in-law Wanda Geery; her brothers Hank (Pat) Geery, Alan (Becky Lane) Geery, and Clint (Ronda) Geery; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law Loretta Johnson; husband Roger; son Darrick; brothers Gerald Geery, Edwin Geery Jr., and Darroll Geery; and brothers-in-law Allen Wardenburg & Wayne Vanderwerff.
