Karen K. Andrew

Funeral services for Karen Andrew, 67, of Melcher-Dallas, will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made in care of Karen’s family.

Karen was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 23, 1955, to Junior and Katherine “Kitty” Tease Shafer. The third youngest of seven children born to the couple. She always enjoyed having a large family.

She attended Saydel High School and graduated in 1974. She worked for Calvin Manor in Des Moines for 10 years and several other places over the years. She was blessed with three children: Kim, Michael, and Tony and lost an infant son at birth.

Karen was married to David Andrew on January 3, 1987. They have spent the last 36 years together enjoying line dancing and country music together. Her greatest love was her family and she absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Junior; and siblings: Butch, Jim, and Bill. Surviving are her husband, David Andrew; mother, Katherine “Kitty” Shafer; children: Kim, Michael, and Tony; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
