Kandi Lea Edy, a beloved member of the community, passed away after a difficult battle with cancer on August 10, 2023.  Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to celebrate Kandi's life at a celebration of life gathering on August 26th, 2023, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas from 11:00am-1:00pm. 

Kandi was born on August 30, 1956, in Charles City, Iowa to Ransom and Jennie Bouillon. She graduated from Charles City High School.  Kandi led an inspiring and multi-faceted career throughout her life. She was an experienced equipment operator, working road construction.  She owned and operated a gas station, tavern, restaurant, and auction house.  Kandi sharpened her auctioneering skills by attending Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City.  Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to serving others were evident in the various ventures she undertook. Kandi's establishments were not just places of business; they also fostered connections within the community and provided spaces for people to come together. 

Beyond her professional achievements, Kandi had many interests that brought joy to her life. She had a green thumb and enjoyed canning and gardening. Her trips to Branson, Missouri held a special place in Kandi's heart; she cherished the memories made during those visits. Additionally, she enjoyed spending time camping and fishing, finding solace in the great outdoors. Playing bingo was another favorite pastime that brought excitement into Kandi's life. Anyone who knew Kandi, was aware of her love and dedication to the Chicago Bears. The most important part of Kandi's life was her family and friends. She cherished the time she spent with those she loved, and especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren as well as picking up cans with Davey Boy. 

Kandi is survived by her children, Zachary Kalvig of Melcher-Dallas and Kathy Vandeventer of Charles City; siblings, Jerry (Marilyn) Bouillon of Greene, Iowa, Mary (Bill) Mooberry of Charles City, and Joyce (Cal) Wood if Ionia, Iowa; and her grandchildren, Joseph and Aiden Kalvig of Melcher -Dallas. 

Kandi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, DeWayne Eddy; children, Glen Johns and Zeke Kalvig; sister, Joann (Darell) Schmidt of Tennessee, and her brothers, Louie (Barb) Bouillon of Charles City and Dennis (Connie) Bouillon of Ionia, Iowa.
