Julie Ester Weidner

April 14, 1964 — November 3, 2021

Julie E. Weidner, 57, of Pleasantville passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in Des Moines. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials made be made to Julie’s family.

Julie E. Mason Weidner was born on April 14, 1964, to Daniel and Betty Atherton Mason in Des Moines. She grew up in Pleasantville where she graduated with the class of 1982 from Pleasantville High School. On December 30, 1982, she married Eric Weidner. They spent 38 wonderful years together building their family and enjoying their time together. Eric passed away in August of 2021.

Julie worked throughout her life as an office assistant and data entry specialist. For the last 18 years she worked as an Account Analyst with Cambridge. Her number one job was being a mom, grandmother, and wife which she loved.

Julie enjoyed many things in her life such as Nascar and any other auto racing; reading; making yearly family calendars; bright colors especially painting her home and decorating with as her family would say obnoxious colors. Ian would always be ready and willing to paint for his mother’s frequent color changes. She had a passion for gardening and was heartbroken when her health would not let her continue. However, Julie's real joy and unconditional love was her family, most would say her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her father. She loved the holidays, writing letters from Santa which she portrayed; baking cookies with the grandkids at Christmas; and decorating every room in the house for the holidays.

She loved life and enjoyed her time at home where it mattered most. You never had to question how she felt about something because she was not afraid to voice her opinion. She was witty, funny, and maybe a bit sarcastic.

Julie is survived by her four children: Ian Albert Weidner, Laura Elizabeth (James) Flint, Allisyn Bree Mason Weidner, and Maggi Kathleen (Canaan) Grigsby; nine grandchildren: Ryen, Ava, Kamlyn, Jersey, Brooklyn, Jocelyn, Maelie, Canaan II, and Roman; her father and stepmother, Daniel and Maxine Mason; sister, Lori (Jay Welsh) Mason; two brothers, David Mason and Anthony Mason; brother-in-laws, Rick Weidner; sister-in-law, Mai Weidner; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eric; mother, Betty Mason; son, Mason; and brother, Daniel Dee Mason.
