Judge Richard D. Morr, 84, of Chariton passed away peacefully at his home on December 1, 2015. In respect of his wishes, no service or memorial will be held. An Open House will be held for family and friends on Saturday, December 12, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Richard Dean Morr was born on June 10, 1931 in Wall Lake, Iowa to Floyd and Wanda Morr. He graduated from Odebolt High School and then served in the United States Air Force and in the Iowa National Guard. After graduating from the University of Iowa College of Law he moved to Chariton to open his own practice. He later went on to serve as Lucas County Attorney and practiced until his appointment to the bench. Judge Morr served as an Iowa District Court Judge until his semi-retirement in 2003. Richard was married to Jean Kay Smith in 1956 and they were blessed with four children: Margarette, Suzanne, Rick, and Mary Kay. Judge Morr lived for the Law, the land and his loved ones. Preceding him in death were his parents: Floyd Morr and Wanda Morr Pratt; and his brothers: Craig and Jim. Surviving are his children: Margarette Morr, Suzanne Humphreys, Rick Morr, and Mary Kay Radavich; grandchildren: Madelyn, Blake, Lindsay, Ricky, Travis, Joe, Nicky, McCall and Levi; 4 great-grandchildren; close friend, Phyllis Toy and brothers, Earl Morr and Bob Morr. Visitation
