Joshua Scott Laird

Joshua Scott Laird, age 41, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2024.

Services are pending. Pierschbacher Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Joshua’s family. Memorials may be directed to his family.

Joshua was born on November 5, 1982, in Fridley, Minnesota. He was raised in the Des Moines and Knoxville area.

Josh loved spending time in flower gardens and pulling weeds. He was also willing to pull the weeds in the neighbor’s yards. His family will remember him as ornery and funny, but also serious. Josh loved his family (especially his mother).

He is survived by his mother, Sherry Laird of Knoxville, and father, Zachary Sly of Des Moines; two sisters, Heather of Des Moines and Shae (Adam) of Knoxville. He is also survived by five nephews Anthony, Sincere, Jobe, Noah and Savoy (who had a special place in his heart.); grandmother, Patricia Wright of Knoxville; several aunts and uncles, including Janice (Tony), Mary Teresa, Eddy (Sue), Paula, Russel, Rupert, and Rhonda; many cousins; and great aunt Peggy. His family loved him dearly and he will be missed by them all.

Joshua is preceded by his paternal grandparents, Jean and Kenneth Sly; maternal grandfather, Ralph Laird; aunts, Virginia Hubler and Teri Mumford; and cousin, Noah Mumford.
