Josephine May Exline

Josephine Exline, age 93, passed away December 10, 2018 at the Accura Healthcare in Knoxville. Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Indiana Chapel Cemetery near Attica. Josephine was born December 29, 1924 near Bussey, Iowa to Edward and Marie VanderLinden Parker. She was raised in the Bussey area and graduated from Bussey Consolidated High School in 1942. She worked at Griffin Nursing Home in Knoxville after high school. She was married to Roy Lankford in 1944, they were blessed with eight children: Donald, David, Sharon, Shirley, Darold, Charlene, Cheryl, and Duane. When the kids were little she worked at the Park Bingley Sale Barn as a waitress. She was later married to Sol Osborn and welcomed his children: Dale, Linda, Eva, and Faye in 1966. After Sol's death she married Kenneth Exline in 1988. Josephine enjoyed being a mom and homemaker. She also worked at the Chariton Manor for 17 years. Josephine liked to sew and loved to bake. Many in the family remember her pancakes. She always had a strawberry patch and always believed that every weed pulled equaled a berry. Josephine passed away December 10, 2018 at the age of 93 years 11 months and 11 days. Preceding her in death were her parents: Edward and Marie; husbands: Roy Lankford, Sol Osborn, and Kenneth Exline; sons, Donald Lankford and David Lankford; and siblings: James Parker, Floyd Parker, Mabel Harlow, Leona Dean, Harold Parker, Roy Parker, Viola Faust, and two infant brothers. Surviving are her childen: Sharon Lankford, Shirley Mattsen, Darold (Linda) Lankford, Charlene (Claus) Folkerds, Cheryl (Tom) Norris, and Duane Lankford; stepchildren: Dale Osborn, Eva Osborn, and Faye Lovell; along with many many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
