John R Jones

John R. Jones, passed away at his home in Knoxville, Iowa, on December 1, 2020, at the age of 72.

John was born September 30, 1948 in Knoxville, Iowa to Clyde L. and Frances Joan (Stephens) Jones. He lived most of his life in Knoxville and attended Knoxville High School.

John married Pam Johnson and to this union one son was born, Zachary Lewis Jones.

John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in March of 1966 and served his country for four years. John served in Vietnam where he was wounded and later received a Purple Heart.

He lived in Knoxville working at various businesses. He attended the Apostolic Church. John enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, genealogy, and was an all around handyman.

John is survived by his son, Zach; his mother, Joan; sisters, Judith (Brian) Foreman of Parker, Colorado and Suzanne Morgan of Knoxville; nephews, Drew Morgan of Knoxville, Nathan Foreman of London, United Kingdom, Joel Foreman of Colorado and niece, Natalie Morgan of Knoxville.

John is preceded in death by his father, Clyde; and brother-in-law, JP Morgan of Knoxville.

John’s wishes were to be cremated. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Due to COVID 19, face masks and social distancing are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to his family.
