John O. Godlove, age 86, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the Pella Regional Hospital.
Visitation for John will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. John’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Face masks and social distancing are recommended.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Ivan’s Campground, 1125 198th Pl. Lot 21, Marion County, Iowa, with Pastor Leo Freel officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery on a later date.
John was born on December 10, 1933 in Lacona, Iowa, the son of Arlonzo and Elizabeth (Oxenreider) Godlove. He grew up in Lucas County. John was united in marriage to Mary Ann Ball on March 27, 1982 in rural Knoxville. He was blessed with eight children, Cindy, Melody, Penny, Tammy, Jodi, Jerry, Sharon, and Kimberly. John and Mary enjoyed 48 years together before his passing.
John worked as a cement truck driver for 43 years. He was employed at Knoxville Ready Mix & Ideal Ready Mix. He enjoyed camping and was a people person. John especially like sitting on his front porch.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Godlove; daughters, Cindy Godlove (Tim Pelong), Melody Ryan (Ronald), Penny Godlove, Tammy Godlove, Jodi Harrison (Rick), Sharon Vinsick (Jason), and Kimberly Pickering (Steve); son, Jerry Godlove (Crystal); also many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, James Harlan Godlove in infancy; and grandson, Bradley Pickering in infancy.
