John Andrew Hansen was born October 7, 1981 to Robert and Janet Sherburne Hansen in Des Moines. He grew up in the Milo area and graduated from Southeast Warren High School in class of 2000. As a child he was baptized and had a very strong faith. Although John had struggled with health issues since he was a teenager, most would never know that. He lived life to the fullest. He brought joy wherever he went, he showed strength and determination in whatever he did and had to under go. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family. He loved to travel, work, fishing with his Dad, collect John Deere signs, farm scenes, antiques, Three Stooges, Mr. Bean and The Simpsons. John also liked to help on the farm as long as it wasn't manual labor. He enjoyed attending farm auctions and shows. One of his favorite destinations was Dyersville to attend the annual toy show. John was always willing to go for a drive without a set destination. Many will say that "You never knew where you were going to end up when you got in with John". He would take Cassandra, Joshua and Christopher driving to let them practice after they got their permit with no destination in mind. They would be gone for hours at a time. In 2013 visited Alaska but most recently in July, he went to Colorado to road trip with his friend TJ. John was always willing to help others especially his nieces, nephews and friends. He truly enjoyed people and making them laugh. John was known for his sense of humor. He was randomly out of the blue funny; telling of his useless facts and information. He loved sharing his most recent YouTube video find. It was usually about farming, funny cats or even a ridiculous stunt video. He would make you watch it entirely no exceptions. Lol! Being the youngest of four siblings presented obstacles. John would be the first to tell you that he will not wear bibs because, Matthew thought it would be fun to hang him up by his bibs. John also split their bedroom with duct tape to ensure John had his own space. John would fight Matthew's geese away with a whip. John loved animals, some of his favorites were his dogs Sparky and Shelby. His favorite cats were Shooter and Tiny. They were all very loyal and would remain by his side throughout his illnesses. Most recently John really enjoyed spoiling and spending time with his niece's dog Sunshine. In January, John started working for the Post Office as a Tractor Trailer Operator, which he really enjoyed. John was on the Milo Fire Department for 18 years. John will be missed by his parents, Robert and Janet Sherburne Hansen; siblings: Matthew (Sarah) Hansen, Beth (Joel) Mosher, and Stephanie (Shawn) Montgomery; nieces and nephews: Cassandra, Joshua (Jennifer), Christopher, Logan, and Paige; several aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by a nephew, Samuel J. Hansen; grandparents: Arlo & Lorraine Sherburne, and John & Evelyn Hansen. Cemetery Details Belmont Cemetery Milo, IA 50166
