James Floyd See, 71, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 4, 2019 at Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Visitation is Friday, December 6, 5:00-7:00 p.m. and the funeral service on Saturday, December 7, 11:00 a.m., both at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Friends and family are invited to Carpenter's Hall for a meal following the service. Jim was born July 28, 1948 in Albia, Iowa to Bernie ("Curly") See and Laura Agatha Husted. He grew up in Albia, Iowa and graduated from Albia High School in 1966. Following high school Jim attended Indian Hills for two years. He entered the Army in 1968, spending 3 years in Vietnam. Following the Army, Jim continued his military service in the National Guard in 1973. Jim's Guard service included tours in Desert Storm and Afghanistan. He served as a Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) until he retired in 2008. On August 30, 1974, Jim was united in marriage to Denna Seibert Gray. Jim and Denna raised three boys: Steve, Eddie, and T.J. In addition to Jim's primary role as a husband, father, and later "Papa" (to Ellie, Easton, and Miken), Jim spent many years active in the community. He volunteered with Lucas County Little League for many years and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2009. Jim also served as a member of the Chariton Fire Department from 1982 to 2003. Jim loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, the Green Bay Packers, and the New York Yankees. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Denna of Chariton; children Steve (Samantha) Gray of Ames, Ed See and Cristi Walters of Chariton, TJ See and Mindy Molitor of Knoxville; grandchildren Ellie and Easton Gray (Ames), Miken See (Chariton), and Reece and Tye Sodders (Ames); sister Janice (Richard) Jourdan, sister Tina Shaffer of Knoxville, and brother Brad (Tina) See of Knoxville. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Curly and Agatha; granddaughter, Jaelyn Macie Jo See; brothers, Roy and Roger See; and sisters: Elizabeth Culbertson, Kathy Maupin, and Phyllis Rosenboom. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department, Chariton Fireman Women's Auxillary, or Humane Society of Lucas County. Visitation
