Jerry Gene Coatney

Jerry G. Coatney, age 79, of Beacon, Iowa, died on June 23, 2020 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Jerry Gene Coatney was born in Dallas, Iowa on February 14, 1941, to Luther “Earl” and Velta (Moffitt) Coatney. Jerry grew up in Dallas and attended school in Dallas. He graduated from Indianola High School.
After high school, Jerry started work with a county road department. He also worked at Firestone; he worked in construction and for many years Jerry worked with Pella Corp., as a tractor and forklift driver. Later Jerry worked for Clow as a guard and his final job was with Walmart in Pella.
In February of 1984 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Jerry and Mona Jane Clark were united in marriage. Jerry and Mona were blessed with 26 years of marriage and three children Jerry Lee, Tony, and Jennifer.
Jerry was a hard worker who enjoyed his family.
Those left to mourn his loss are Jerry’s wife, Mona Coatney of Beacon; three children, Jerry Lee Coatney of Beacon, Tony Coatney (Melanie) of Pella, and Jennifer VanWardhuizen of Portland, Oregon; and two grandchildren Melayna and Trinity. Jerry is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kris, Julie, Tammi, and Dewey, Jr.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents “Earl” and Velta Coatney; and two brothers, Larry and Dewey Coatney.
A memorial may be given in Jerry’s memory to his family.
