Janice Lucille Agan

A private family service for Janice Lucille Agan, 80, of Chariton, Iowa will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Inter Church Ministry Center, 410 S 7th St, Chariton, Iowa 50049 or the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department, 115 S Main St, Chariton, Iowa 50049.

Janice (Sivill) Agan was born on May 14, 1940 to Morris and Opal (Lepley) Sivill at home near Lacona, Iowa. She attended a country school during her elementary years and then continued her junior high and high school years in Chariton, Iowa. She graduated from Chariton High School with the class of 1958. She was also a member of the UB Church.

Janice married Jim Agan on March 29, 1959. To this union, they were blessed with four sons: Jeff, John, Joe, and Jerry. She firmly believed that family should come first, and her life did revolve around her family. Janice was very fond of her boys, her daughters-in-law, and her grandchildren.

Janice worked at Plaza State Bank in Des Moines and First State Bank in Chariton. Later she worked at Clark’s Greenhouse. She had a love for flowers and gardening, spending many hours planting lots and lots of flowers. She made sure Jim also stayed busy mowing while she worked in the yard.

Janice was an outstanding cook. She especially loved to cook for the grandkids. They knew Grandma was the boss. She made holidays special baking pumpkin pies, deviled eggs, ham balls and macaroni.

Janice will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim; sons: Jeff (Renee), John (Vonda), Joe (Pamela), and Jerry (Nicole); grandchildren: Nick (Sara), Cameron, Rachel, James, Sean, Hannah (Zach), Lexi, Chandra (Russ), Tasha (Dominic), Erica (Donnie), Lindsey, Lucas, and Chloe; great-grandchildren: Dillon and Willow; and brothers: Merrill (Maxine) Sivill and Larry (Sheila) Sivill.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Morris, who passed away when she was 12; Mother Opal, stepfather, Lester Smith; and brother, Walter Sivill (Lavonna).
