Service for James Van De Walle, of Chariton, will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will follow at the Gosport Cemetery.

James Alfred Van De Walle was born November 13, 1946, to John and Wilma (Mott) Van De Walle in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up in the Tama-Toledo area. After high school, James worked at a grain elevator. He later worked at Happy Joes for 15 years.

On February 1, 1974, James was united in marriage to Carol Ann Van De Walle. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Amanda. They moved to Chariton in 1996.

In his spare time, James loved fishing, woodworking, and painting. He also enjoyed listening to old country music and had a passion for old cars. James’ grandchildren were his pride and joy.

James passed away on October 23, 2022, at the age of 75. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Amanda (Dwight) Bachman of Chariton; and grandchildren: Clayton, Bethany, and John. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilma, and his wife, Carol.
