James Edward Berry

James Edward Berry, age 51, of Bussey, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Hospice Comfort House of Pella.
James’ wishes were to be cremated and a visitation with James’ family present will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, July 10th, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 P.M. with Military Honors to follow also at the Winfield Funeral Home.
James was born on October 4, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Millard Edward “Bud” and Randi (Loftsgard) Berry, Jr. James and his brothers grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. James graduated from Kennedy High School, Class of 1988. After high school James enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy from 1988 to 1992 as a Technical Librarian.
After James’ service he worked for over 14 years with Amana Whirlpool; four years with Palo Outdoors in Palo, Iowa; and four years with Theisen’s Farm Store in Cedar Rapids and later in Pella, Iowa. James enjoyed archery and was a competitive archer.
On January 28, 2018, James, and Leann Ranae (Carlson) Sanders began to date and on August 5, 2018, were engaged to be married. James and Leann, with her children Jordyn and Mason shared theirs lives for three years before James’ passing.
Left to honor James’ memory is his Fiancée Leann Sanders of Bussey and her children Jordyn and Mason; his mother Randi Walser; stepmother Teresa Berry; two brothers, Daniel Berry and Nicholas Berry (Marla), all of Cedar Rapids; and one niece and one nephew, Walter and Alice Berry.
James is preceded in death by his father Millard “Bud” Berry, Jr., and his stepfather Michael Leroy Walser.
Memorials may be given in James’ memory to his family and will be decided at a later date. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com . The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting James’ family.
