Jake Chandler

Jake Chandler, 79, of Chariton passed away Sunday October 14, 2007 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Lucas County Little League or to the Presbyterian Church in Chariton. Condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com Jake was born August 8, 1928 to Lewis and Cleo Schilling Chandler in Lucas, Iowa. He retired from Maytag in 1980 after working there for 30 years. Jake enjoyed camping and traveling, dancing, fishing, gardening and mowing the lawn. He was a member of the Local UAW 997 Newton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Norma Jean, daughter Cynthia, and siblings: Jack, Sue, and Ike. Jake is survived by his wife Marilyn; son Mark Chandler of Greeley, CO; daughter Paula Morris of Chariton; step sons: Mike Smith of Chariton, Mark Smith of Chariton, and Miles Smith of Indianola; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother Rus Chandler of Ottumwa; and a sister JoAnn Nielsen of Chariton.
