Jackie Lawrence

Jackie Marie Lawrence, age 31, of Albia, Iowa died Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born January 25, 1975 in Minot, North Dakota to Michael Jon and Vivian Louise (Pope) Lawrence. She was a graduate of Albia High School, class of 1993. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Psychology degree in 1997 and from William Penn University in 2005 receiving her teaching endorsement. Jackie had worked at Casey?s General Store in Albia and was substitute teaching. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia and a member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Jackie loved her cats and teaching and working with young children. Jackie is survived by her father, Michael (Karmen) Lawrence of Des Moines, Iowa, her mother, Vivian Lawrence of Albia, a sister, Julie (Travis) Fiedler of Davenport, Iowa, and two brothers Jared Lawrence and fiancé Cicely Ellison of Albia and Jacob Lawrence also of Albia. Also surviving are paternal grandmother Beverly Lawrence of Danville, California and maternal grandfather, Jack Pope of Lovilia, Iowa; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Paul Lawrence, maternal grandmother, Lillian Pope and one uncle Steven Pope. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia with Rev. Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial will follow the service in Liberty Cemetery in Bussey, Iowa. Visitation will open after 12:00 P.M. (noon) on Wednesday, January 17 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday evening. Casketbearers will be Hjalmer Lindberg, Rich Runnells, Ken Lawrence, Ron Yarkosky, Kevin Archer and Mitch Chance. Memorials have been established in Jackie?s name and will be directed at a later time to cancer research.
