Jackie Lee Courtney, age 62, of rural Knoxville, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at his residence in rural Knoxville.
Visitation for Jackie will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Jackie’s family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Winfield Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Glesener to officiate. Burial will follow services at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, Iowa.
Jackie Lee Courtney was born on September 15, 1959, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Robert Paul and Alyce Irene (Thompson) Courtney. Jackie grew up in Bussey and attended Twin Cedars High School, Class of 1978.
After high school Jackie began working construction. He worked in construction and building homes for most of his life. He was currently employed with Beisser Lumber. Jackie enjoyed four wheeling, boating, and camping and some golfing.
Jackie was united in marriage to Holly Ann Severns. They were blessed with two sons, Nathan and Jeremy. They later divorced and Jackie and Karen Diane Van Waartdhuizen were married until her passing.
Jackie is survived by his son Jeremy Courtney; his mother Alyce Courtney; and his siblings Vicki Courtney of Ottumwa and Doug Courtney and his wife Rose “Scooter” of Moravia.
He is preceded in death by his wife Karen Courtney; his son Nathan Courtney; his father Robert “Bob” Courtney; and two siblings in infancy, Terry, and Bobbi Irene Courtney.
A memorial may be given in Jackie’s memory to his family and will be designated at a later date. The Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Jackie’s family with services.
