He was the sixth child of seven who all grew up in the Norwoodville area. He graduated from Saydel High School in 1971. He was married to the catch of his life, Linda Waddle, on September 18, 1971. They were blessed with three children: Jennifer, Steven, and Kelley. He started working right out of high school in Des Moines and in 1988 Jack and Linda moved to a farm outside of Melcher-Dallas. Jack loved the farm and being outdoors, he enjoyed raising sheep. He also loved to fish and hunt. Jack loved to tease and joke with his family and friends, there was never a dull moment with him around. He spent many hours in his workshop working with wood and creating all kinds of inventive designs. He also liked football and especially enjoyed rooting for the Iowa State Cyclones and Detroit Lions. Jack's family was his greatest love in life. His children, grandchildren, and greats were a great joy. He loved to watch their school activities and sports, and watching them show at the fair.
