Services for Jack Dinkel will be held Friday, May 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will follow at the Chariton Cemetery. Jack Eugene Dinkel was born August 27, 1922 to Claude and Ruth (Stevenson) Dinkel in Terre Haute, IN. He was one of five sons born the couple. Jack graduated from Chariton High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War. After returning home, Jack furthered his education at Iowa State College (University). On January 9, 1943, Jack was united in marriage to Anna Laura Whitlatch in Boston, MA. The couple was blessed with two sons, Stephen and Scott. Jack and Anna lived in sixteen different homes during their marriage of 76 years. Jack worked in agricultural sales for many years. He and Anna retired to Hot Springs Village in Arkansas. They enjoyed golfing together on the nine unique golf courses there. Jack volunteered his time for organizations such as Meals On Wheels. He was also the first ever volunteer at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR. Above all else, Jack enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jack passed away on May 20, 2020 in Kansas City, MO. He will be dearly missed by his sons, Stephen (Ronni) Dinkel and Scott (Felicia) Dinkel; grandchildren: Robin Norman, Holly Dinkel, Alessia Dinkel, Emily Dinkel, and Gregory Dinkel; step grandchildren: Jill DeBok, Tim Stork, and Gregory Stork; 4 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; brothers: Claude Jr. Dinkel, Ted Dinkel, Bill Dinkel, and Alvin Dinkel; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
