Iris "Doots" Smith

Iris Iona ?Doots? Smith, age 99, of Albia, Iowa died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albia. She was born August 31, 1906 in Albia, Iowa to Roy and Maude (Teasdale) Narver. She married Jack Smith on November 11, 1945. He passed away March 19, 1958. Doots? mother, Maude, owned and operated A Avenue Tap in Albia. Doots took over ownership and operated A Avenue Tap for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Albia. Doots enjoyed traveling with her husband, and later enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye football. Doots was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Maude Naver; her husband Jack Smith; one sister, Irene Trussell and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with Rev. Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Oakview Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be open from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 19 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Casketbearers will be Carroll Rhine, David Casebolt, Ray Davis, George Teno, Jr. Frank Tharp, and John Pabst. A memorial has been established to the Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund.
