Services for Irene Swartzendruver will be held Saturday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Motor Friends Church in Milo, Iowa. Family will receive friends, one hour prior, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., at the church. Interment will be at the Motor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Motor Friends Church or to the Pulaski Mennonite Church in Pulaski, Iowa. Irene Elizabeth De Good was born August 3, 1924 to Harl and Della Hayes De Good in Linn, Missouri. She graduated from Batavia High School in 1942 and furthered her education at a secretarial school in Oklahoma. Irene was united in marriage to John Swartzendruver on August 12, 1961. They made their home together on a farm near Pulaski, Iowa. Irene was an actively supportive farm wife who was a fantastic cook. Their hired hands were still talking about her home-cooked meals for years afterwards. Irene loved music and was a talented pianist. She was very involved in her community and her church. She taught bible school and was a dedicated member of the local women's groups at the Pulaski and Motor Churches. She, with her husband, was an active member of Farm Bureau and Gideons. Irene was also an excellent seamstress and was meticulous in her work. Family always came first. Irene loved spending times with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and good friends. She will greatly be missed. Irene passed away August 18, 2019 at the age of 95. She is survived by her husband John Swartzendruver; daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Powell; 5 grandchildren: Kathryn Gentry, Tony (Heather) Gentry, Dan (Sarah) Gentry, Tim (Angie) Gentry, and Dustin Gentry; 10 great grandchildren: Seth, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jackson, Cassandra, MyKaylah, MyKole, MaeLee, William, & Laynie; along with special friends, Ryan and Jane Nady and their children, Dylan, Logan, and Emma. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; stepdaughter, Kathryn Swartzendruver; and great granddaughter, Nicole Cramer. Cemetery Details Motor Cemetery 14350 240th Avenue
