Glenn "Butch” Byers

October 2, 1946 — May 18, 2020

A celebration of life for Glenn "Butch" Byers, 73, will be Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. The service and visitation will be conducted under CDC Guidelines, which includes social distancing measures, and masks are recommended. The service may be viewed on the Pierschbacher Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at the service time. https://www.facebook.com/pierschbacherfuneralhomes/ Glenn was born October 2, 1946 to John and Patsy Byers. The oldest of 8 siblings, he was soon nicknamed "Butch", after a coon dog the family had. Butch grew up in the Milo area and graduated from Indianola High School in 1964. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic in Okinawa Japan. Butch left his brand on the world, in fact he should have written a book. It would be filled with stories and jokes, that many thought couldn't be true, but if you asked his friends they would swear they are true. He was a real deal cowboy, a hunter, hunting guide and blacksmith by trade, and could rip a man in half with his bare hands. Butch had a vast knowledge of the land, animals, and all of nature. He had lived a hard life and was a survivor, but had the biggest heart in the world and was a mentor to many young people. He was only 73, but in Butch years he was closer to 150 years old in his life stories and wisdom. Butch was preceded in death by his parents: John and Patsy; and son, John; siblings: Gerald, Gary, Luann, and Jim. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Becky (Mike) Buonauro; and granddaughters: Aubri and Lyla; siblings: Jack Byers, Tena Byers, and Teri Byers Spilman; uncle, Archie Byers; along with many relatives and friends.
