June 12, 1925 — July 26, 2020

A celebration of life gathering for Gladys M. Kamerick, 95, of Melcher-Dallas will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Gladys' name. Gladys Marie Bagley was born June 12, 1925 to Genevieve Bagley in Providence, Rhode Island. She grew up in Rhode Island alongside her brother, Joseph. While Gladys was out with friends at a dance club, she was spotted by a Mr. Golmore Kamerick who was stationed in Rhode Island with the Navy. Golmore claimed right then and there that he was going to marry her. The couple was married in 1944. Gladys worked at a jewelry store in the early years of their marriage. She also made goggles during the war. After Golmore was released from active duty in 1945, the couple made their home in Providence for five years before moving to Iowa. Gladys and Golmore were blessed with six children: Sharon, John, Carol Ann, Deborah Jo, Eileen, and an infant son who passed away. Gladys was a loving mother and an excellent homemaker. She was also a devoted grandmother to her nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Gladys and Golmore took many trips around the country when their children were younger. Gladys loved to travel. She also liked to go shopping and was always coordinating her clothes. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and helping Golmore plant and harvest their large vegetable garden every year. She also kept busy inside the house, changing paint colors in various rooms every few months. Above all else, Gladys loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing games with family and friends and cooking and baking with her grandkids. Gladys passed away July 26, 2020 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Knoxville. Gladys is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Richard) Petersma, Carol Jahner, Deborah Kamerick, and Eileen Kamerick; grandchildren: Teresa, Kathy, Scott, James, Quinten, Kolby, Dustin, Amanda, Bryce, and Natasha; great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Golmore Kamerick; son, John A. Kamerick; granddaughter, Apryle; and brother, Joseph Bagley. Celebration of Life
