Freeda P. Faust

Freeda Faust, 89, passed away December 25, 2018 at Chariton Specialty Care. Funeral services will be Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends Thursday, January 3rd from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr. Freeda P. Faust was born December 2, 1929, on the family farm near Lamoni, Iowa, to Henry and Luster Stephens Payton. Freeda attended country school in Decatur County. During her high school years, Freeda lived with her sister, Beulah, and worked at Place's Dime Store. She graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in 1948. It was during her time at Place's Dime Store in Mt. Ayr that Freeda met Howard Faust. Howard also worked for Place's. After graduation, Freeda took a job with the Federal Land Bank. When Howard opened a Place's Dime Store in Chariton, Iowa, Freeda transferred to the Federal Land Bank in Chariton. Howard and Freeda were married in 1950 in Mt. Ayr. The couple was blessed with a son, Steven Scott. They were divorced in 1987. Freeda lived in Chariton for over sixty-eight years. She was active in many local organizations throughout the years, including: the Newcomers Club, Bridge Clubs, Sorority, the Red Hat Society, and the Red Haw Campers Women's Club. She was also a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church for sixty-eight years. She taught Sunday school at the FUMC for many years. Over the last twenty-nine years, Freeda enjoyed attending dances and traveling all over the United States with friends. She also loved time spent with her family and friends. Freeda passed away December 25, 2018 at Chariton Specialty Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Luster Payton; infant sister, Maude Marie; and sisters, Velma and Lila. Freeda is survived by her son, Steven (Dianna) Faust of Urbandale; her sister, Beulah Walter of Mt. Ayr; and many relatives and friends. Cemetery Details Rose Hill Cemetery HWY 2
