Evelyn Marie (Young) Pearson died on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 am at the church. Following services, a luncheon will be held at the church. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Evelyn was born on September 5, 1931, in Macksburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Chester and Dorothy (Kirland) Young.
Evelyn Young was united in marriage to Elmer Amos “Jipe” Pearson on December 6, 1952, in Macksburg, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Lori, Danny, and Robin. Evelyn and Jipe enjoyed 70 years of marriage before her passing.
Evelyn was employed at the Knoxville V.A. Hospital and Marion County Courthouse. She was also a homemaker. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking (and was known for her cinnamon rolls.) She also loved to read and garden. Evelyn was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Her greatest joy was her family and she will be missed by them all.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 70 years, Elmer “Jipe” Pearson; children, Lori Pearson of Knoxville, Danny Pearson and wife Carol of rural Knoxville, and Robin Pearson (Gil Hernandez) of Phoenix, Arizona. She is also survived by one grandchild Eric Pearson and his wife Daphne; two great grandchildren, Aliana and Eli; and three sisters, Darlene Eivins of Colorado, Beverly Basham of Tennessee, and Bette Thompson of Missouri.
Everlyn is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Dorothy Young; grandson, Ryan; brother, George Young; and sister, Cleo Welling.
Memorials may be given to Montgomery Street Preschool or Suncrest Hospice.
